Hawkins Design Group possesses vast experience and skills in performing “Green Building” work, including LEED projects and alternative energy sources such as solar photovoltaic power. In fact, as of 2012, Hawkins Design Group was the Engineer Of Record for nearly 400 solar projects with 80 MW of total system power. These projects included eighty-five Wal-Mart locations, Cox Communications centers throughout Arizona, several Intel factory locations, High Schools and Elementary Schools in Arizona, California and Colorado as well as the Arizona Science Center, and extending even to large waste water treatment facilities.
These solar power plants were comprised of rooftop, shaded parking structure, and ground mounted systems with both fixed and tracking options. In addition to solar plant systems, HDG is also highly experienced in both grid tie-in and off-grid systems both of which can utilize a battery back-up system. The sizes of these systems range from as small as a couple of kilowatts to multiple megawatts across a campus or large distribution building.
